If a sent message exceeds 25MB,a Google Drive link is automatically added to the email and sent. For received messages(the email test+attachments) over 50MB,it cannnot be recieved.

[Q1-4] Can I use TU Mail soon after I leave the University?

After you terminate your Tohokudai ID,you will be able to use your account for 30 days.(grace period) Mail forwarding is available for 2 years after the grace period ends.

However, please set up email forwarding to another address during Tohokudai ID usage period (before grace period). Please see the details at Email forwarding after termination.

[Q1-5] I would like to know abuot the forwarding settings after the end of the usage period.

Please refer to manual of“Email forwarding after termination”. Mail forwarding is available for 2 years after the usage period ends.

We can’t recover personal data.

[Q2-2] I have a long name, and it gives me a long address. Can I shorten it?

If you'd like to skip your middle name, etc., please contact us. It can also be solved by creating TU Mail alias. For more information on a function, please refer to "TU Mail alias" of "Your TU Mail address" in this page.

[Q2-3] Can I delete my email address auxiliary section?

You cannot delete and change it. If you would like an email address without auxiliary section, please create TU Mail alias. For more information on a function, please refer to "TU Mail alias" of "Your TU Mail address" in this page.

If you want to change the Google account name to half-width or skip the middle name, please apply for a Google account name change. For more information, please refer to "Google account name change".

[Q3-1] Where can I copy my email address to set up my email client account?

You can copy it from website of "統合電子認証システム”.（Integrated Electronic Authentication System of Tohoku University).
If you use copy and paste, be careful not to include spaces before or after your email address.

[Q3-2] Do I need to change my email environment with any change of the delivery address for work/academic email?

If you would like to use receive email other than TU Mail, you need to configure email forwarding to your email. Please see the details Manuals and configure your email address settings.

[Q3-3] Can I set up an email alias to my email address?

You can create TU Mail alias as an option. For more information on a function, please refer to"Email alias" .

It is an optional function to change your sender name to something other than the current name used in your current email address.

You can create your desired email alias on website of "統合電子認証システム”（Integrated Electronic Authentication System of Tohoku University).It takes about 2 hours to apply after application. Please see “Email alias” at TU Mail site.

You cannot it. Plase use your original TUMail address.

Using an email alias is optional.

You cannot change it. After@ will stay [tohoku.ac.jp].

[Q4-7] Will my email alias be displayed in the Faculty and Staff Groupware’s address book?

There is displayed your original TU Mail address only.
If you'd like to show your email alias in the address book, you can register your email alias to the field of "Optional Email address".

[Q4-8] When I try to request my email alias on website of "統合電子認証システム”（Integrated Electronic Authentication System of Tohoku University), I get some error.

If you’re desired alias that are already in use or has been used in the past by yourself or other user, you will get some error.
Please refer to TUMail alias policy on website of "統合電子認証システム”（Integrated Electronic Authentication System of Tohoku University) and register another email alias.

[Q4-9] Do I need to change setting in response to the email use environment after creating my email alias?

Such as cases you would like to use your alias address as sender, you need to set in response to the email use environment.

[Q4-10] Can I register my email alias to the mailing list? Also can it register to mailing list administrator?

TU Mail alias address can register as mailing list member. You can also become a mailing list administrator.
However,when you logs in to Gmail, The original TUMail address will be the login ID and you cannot log in with an alias address.

[Q5-1] If I forget TUMail address or password, how should I ask it?

TUMail address can be confirmed from website of "統合電子認証システム”（Integrated Electronic Authentication System of Tohoku University).

The password for TUMail address can be confirmed by "統合電子認証システム”（Integrated Electronic Authentication System of Tohoku University) for the initial setting password,but after that it will be managed by Google Workspace.

By registering recovery contact information in Google Workspace in advance, you can check your password even if you forget it.

If you have not registered in advance, please initialize the password from "Email password initialization form".

[Q5-2] Even if I put my email address in the sender(To,CC,BCC), it does not reach me.

Gmail is basically designed so that email addressed to you does not reach your inbox.

Email sent to your other address or mailing list to which you belong can be delivered to your inbox depending on your settings.
