Format: On-campus nursery, with operation contracted to Art Childcare Corporation
Staffing: The number of nursery teachers is one more than is required by law for the operation of a licensed nursery.

8 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Extended-hours childcare:
7:30 - 8 a.m., 7 - 8/10 p.m.
(excluding Saturdays; Reservation required by the 25th day of the previous month)

Temporary childcare:
8 a.m. - 7 p.m.
(reservation required 14 days in advance)

¥4,000 for 7:30 - 8 a.m., 7 - 8 p.m.
¥8,000 for 7:30 - 8 a.m., 7 - 10 p.m.
Temporary childcare:: ¥400/30 min. (reservation required)

Regarding the management of fees if your child does not attend, or you enroll or withdraw your child midway through the month

Childcare fees are determined based on the child’s age as of March 31, 2020.

Regular childcare: Enrollment is open to healthy preschool children two months and older of Tohoku University employees and students who are deemed to require childcare assistance due to the nature of their jobs/studies.
Applications are not taken for unborn children.
Temporary childcare: Preschool children five months and older under the care of Tohoku University employees and students, who require nursery care due to an urgent situation affecting a parent/guardian (in-patient/out-patient medical care, participation in an academic conference, etc.) that is approved by the nursery program manager. This service requires a reservation.

Children enrolled in the nursery can continue attending while the mother is on maternity leave for another child.
Leaves of absence from the nursery may be taken for up to six months for special circumstances, such as when the mother returns to her parents’ home for childbirth.
- Nursery fees continue to be charged during leaves of absence.
- File a Notice of Leave before the child is taken out and a Notice of Return before the child returns to the nursery.
- The child’s enrollment will be revoked if the absence exceeds six months.
Your children can continue attending Aobayama Midori Nursery School for one year from the day on which your childcare leave begins (if you are on a waiting list, there is the possibility of extending this period every six months, up to a maximum of up to two years).
- File a Request for Continued Enrollment along with a photocopy of the child’s health insurance card and other required documentation.
