Special Amateur Radio Station
Opened as Part of 100th Anniversary Events
Tohoku University Amateur Radio Club opened g8N7TUh, its special amateur
radio station, as part of the events celebrating the 100th
anniversary of our university.
On March 28, the license for g8N7TUh was granted from the Tohoku Bureau
of Telecommunications. Its opening ceremony was held on April 1, and its
operation has started at noon by the first contact of Tomoyoshi Funazaki,
the student representative.
On April 7, g8N7TUh made successful contacts with
Kimio Wakoh
(Showa Station: 8J1RL), who is presently participating in the 48th
Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition (JARE) and is also a staff member of
the Institute for Materials Research.
The g8N7TUh succeeded in communicating with 5,000 radio stations in 40
countries thus far and is scheduled to operate until the end of
December.
