10/26 Evaluation System for Nano-Particle Processes Established through Supercomputer

Research group run by Prof. Hideya Nishiyama, Institute of Fluid Science, Tohoku University, Associate Prof. Takayuki Watanabe and Masaya Shigeta, Postdoctoral fellow, Graduate School of Engineering, Tokyo Institute of Technology has succeeded to establish the evaluation system for metal and silicon nano-particles synthesis through supercomputer. This is exactly the model of nano-particle processes by plasma flow which is integrated plasma flow and nano-particle synthesis models coupled with nano-particle properties evaluation model.

Thanks to this innovation, forecast for pure metal, particle size distribution of silicon alloyed nano-particle, particles number, location for particle collection and possible composition of compound can be made only by providing plasma operating conditions, quenching gas and properties of particle substance without sharing much time and conducting delicate experiments and empirical rules. It has become a cornerstone for successful development of nano-particle processes and nano fluid science.
