Summer Program

The Summer Program is part of JEPEU (Joint Education Program with European Universities). The key feature of this program is that students from Tohoku University will conduct their studies and receive research supervision at collaborating universities in English, while students from collaborating universities study and receive supervision in English at Tohoku University. For students considering long-term study abroad, the JEPEU Summer Program provides an outstanding opportunity to experience short-term guidance, study in English in their field, and firm up their thinking regarding studying abroad. Also, the opportunity for graduate-level studies at leading European universities with students from many countries provides an excellent stimulus and invaluable experience. The JEPEU Summer Program provides an opportunity for students planning to participate in future study abroad to deepen their interest and understanding of overseas study, which can lead to future research activities or long-term study abroad.

During 2009, Tohoku University graduate students had outstanding experiences while participating in two programs offered by the Technical University of Demark and the Helsinki University of Technology (offered jointly with other universities).

Summer Programs for master's level engineering/science students at European Universities are being planned for 2010.
